One of my favorite things about offering live event engraving is watching someone realize they’re getting more than just a personalized gift. They walk up expecting a custom keepsake, but by the time they leave, they’ve had an experience. They watched it being made, chatted while it was engraved, and walked away with something created just for them.
That’s exactly what happened at the Colonial Life Charity Classic Pairing Party hosted by Southern Way Catering. For this corporate event, guests received custom engraved golf ball markers while enjoying an evening of great food, networking, and entertainment before the tournament. Live engraving fit naturally into the event because it wasn’t just another gift, it became something people stopped to experience.
With several hundred guests expected throughout the evening, we knew planning ahead would be important.
To make sure guests didn’t spend too much time waiting, I partnered with another talented calligrapher from Stroman Studios. Having two engravers allowed us to personalize more pieces while keeping the guest experience moving smoothly from beginning to end.
This is something I regularly discuss with event planners during the planning process. Every event is different, and factors like guest count, event length, and the item being engraved all help determine whether one engraver or multiple artists will create the best experience.
The goal is always the same: keep the line moving without making the personalization feel rushed.

There’s something special about watching your name appear right in front of you. Throughout the evening, guests would walk up with curiosity, choose their personalization, and then stay to watch the engraving happen. Many started conversations while I worked.
Others called over friends to watch before heading back into the event together. It wasn’t uncommon to see someone receive their engraved ball marker, admire it for a moment, and immediately recommend the station to someone else.
Those interactions are exactly why I love offering live engraving experiences. Yes, guests leave with a beautiful keepsake, but the process of watching it being created becomes part of the memory. That’s something pre-made gifts simply can’t recreate.
When companies are planning a corporate event or brand activation, they’re often looking for ways to make guests feel appreciated while creating something memorable.
Live engraving does both.
Instead of handing someone a branded item they’ll toss in a drawer later, you’re giving them something personalized specifically for them. That simple difference completely changes how guests connect with the gift.
Over the years I’ve engraved everything from golf ball markers and leather luggage tags to perfume bottles, wine glasses, and keepsake gifts. The item itself can change depending on the event, but the experience remains the same.
Guests slow down.
They engage.
They take photos.
They start conversations.
They remember where they received it.
For brands and event planners, that’s exactly what makes live event personalization such a valuable addition to an event.

One question I hear often is whether live engraving works for larger events.
The answer is yes—with the right planning.
Before every event, I work with clients to understand their guest count, event timeline, personalization requests, and the overall flow of the evening. From there, I help recommend the best setup to create the smoothest experience possible.
Sometimes that means selecting an item that’s quick to personalize.
Sometimes it means recommending multiple engraving stations.
Sometimes it’s simply adjusting where the station is located so guests naturally discover it throughout the evening.
Every recommendation is made with the guest experience in mind.
When you’re planning an event, the last thing you want is another vendor who needs constant direction. My goal is to make live engraving one of the easiest parts of your event.
I’ve personalized for luxury weddings, corporate events, golf tournaments, retail activations, and client appreciation events across the Southeast. From intimate gatherings to events with hundreds of guests, I know how to adapt to different timelines, venues, and guest counts while creating an experience that feels seamless from start to finish.
Before your event, I’ll help you choose the right items, determine how many engraving artists you’ll need, and create a setup that fits naturally into your event flow. During the event, I focus on creating meaningful interactions with your guests while keeping the line moving and maintaining the level of service your event deserves.
When you hire Swirls & Script, you’re not just hiring someone who can engrave. You’re partnering with someone who understands how live personalization fits into the bigger picture of creating an unforgettable guest experience.
Some of the most popular options include glasses, leather goods, perfume and cologne bottles, luggage tags, keychains, ornaments, and other small keepsakes. I help clients select items that fit both their event and their timeline.
Absolutely. Larger events often benefit from multiple engravers or thoughtful planning around guest flow. During our planning conversations, I’ll recommend the setup that makes the most sense for your event.
The earlier, the better, especially if custom items need to be sourced. Booking several weeks or months in advance gives us plenty of time to plan every detail, but I’m always happy to discuss upcoming events to see what’s possible.
Whether you’re planning a corporate event, brand activation, golf tournament, luxury wedding, or client appreciation event, live engraving creates the kind of memorable moments guests continue talking about long after the event ends.
